Anorexia, Bulimia, Starvation,Fast weight loss, Magic pills…Are these realistic goals?

I know this board is about weight loss and Ive been on it long enough to know, myself included, that those needing to lose weight want to do it fast and as easily as possible. But after a life (42 yrs old) of being overweight, I had to learn what was the obvious…proper nutrition and exercise is the answer. Ive just noticed that there are so many young people on this board that are looking into how to become anorexic or bulimic in order to lose weight. Are we, as a society, really this uneducated? I mean, if we are willing to suffer by starvation in order to lose, wouldnt it make more sense to just change the way we eat?
I come to this board to try and help others, as I was once 240 lbs and a size 24 (5"1). But why are people ignoring the good advice some try to give and only looking on how to get an eating disorder??

Its just frustrating.

Size 8 now and still working on it.

ive been researching for like weight loss ways and all i find are like these complex stuff that im not even sure work.
Whats something thats like pretty simple and very effective to lose weight.
im 14 years old, 5`3 in height and way 160 pounds which is a 28 bmi and im trying to get it down to like 25 bmi

Weight loss and products you use.?

I have two questions about weight loss. I dont want to loose much, Just 20 pounds. Im 5 7 and weigh 135. I was at 142 and have been on a diet for a week now and lost 7 pounds but the last 2 days I have gained a pound and have done nothing different from the diet ive been doing accept adding a crystal lite packet to my water maybe twice a day. I have heard that even though diet sodas and diet drinks have no calories or fat that theres an ingredient that could still possibly halt any weight loss. Is this true? Should I stay away from diet drinks and diet sodas? Ive also had a few of those new diet pepsi max drinks. One every other day or so. Am I doing the wrong thing by drinking these diet drinks? And also one other thing is, can birth control really make you not loose weight? I just got on the nuva ring a month ago. Could this be why i cant loose weight either even though im on a good diet? And if so is there any birth control that doesnt make you gain weight?

Am I eating too few calories for effective weight loss?

There are so many answers as to how many calories someone should consume when trying to lose weight, and I’m just not sure what to believe. I’m currently on a 1500 calorie diet, and work out 5 days a week, burning 400-500 calories a day. I spend 30 minutes on an elliptical, 15 minutes weight training, and have karate 2 times a week.
My concern is that I’m not consuming enough calories to support efficient weight loss and that my body might go in to starvation mode. I’ve been working out for nearly 3 months, and have only lost 8 pounds. Am I not eating enough? Or do I just need to keep doing what I’m doing?
Age: 20
Height: 5’4"
Weight: 173lbs (Only 19% body fat though, I’m really muscular and curvy)
Weight goal: 155lbs

Plz can someone help me get on a effective weight loss work out plan?

hello I’m a not so active woman I”m 5′ 7 170lbs I want to start making work outs a part of my life. I just don’t know how to mix it up and challenge myself to set myself up for weight loss and getting healthy. I have a elliptical machine, a leg magic and treadmill with incline capability and I’m planning on working out for 45 mins 4 to 5 times a week. So the question is how many calories should i have daily? and what work outs for max weight loss… how much can i expect to lose in first month? Thanks so much any help would be appreciated….
my goal is to lose 35-40lbs……..
I was hoping to lose 15 by thanksgiving
please help….
