Forbidding themselves to eat certain foods, exercising like crazy, spending tons of money on designer clothes, makeup, hair products?

Why do people care about this stuff so much? What do they think they’re going to get out of it?
Is this the only way to get respect from people? By "looking good"? Is this the only way to get a date?

]]> I think i have a compulsive disorder,or maybe everyone shops as much as me.

I have 2 small drawers full of lipstick foundation,lipgloss eyeshadow ect another draw for applicator,tweezwers,nail files,brushes sponge, 2 big plastic box full of straigtning creams curling mousse,oils ect ect

a massive self full of deodorant,powder,cream,exfoliates,scrubs,cleansers

than my bathroom cabinet is full of makeup i wear everyday,and another one for facial wash,scrubs hair removal,than another self of shampoo hair stuff and body wash’s

than two large bags in the attic full of all these items but unopened.

another shelf of perfumes,and shimmers full

however some if of my sister of about 25%, (she has most of her stuff in her room )

however i work in beauty and some people buy lots more than me all the time,but most of my money that i spend is in makeup.should i cut down or is this necessary just part of being a girl that like to do herself up all the time.

]]> I know this might be the wrong section but I figured people here would have more expierence/knowledge of it. I want to get some airbrush equiptment for a acting/theatre group me and my friends are apart of. We want to start using ultra cool makeup/costumes but it’s hard to achieve things with makeup alone. For example, some scenes, the whole body has to be a different color and we can’t use a 2 inch applicator on all that skin to apply color so airbrush would be easier. Also for one character, we need a girl to be pure white. Is that possible to achieve with an airbrush? The girl is fair skinned anyway so it would only have to lighten a few shades at most. I’ve like hand held pumps for around 0. It doesn’t have to be electronic or anything. Just basic. Also where could we buy white skin paint to put in it and paint for skin in general? Thanks. Please post information and links and expierence.

]]> Like,, what time should i go to bed if i have to wake up for 6:45 in the morning? I have to get to school for 8:45 but leave my house at 8. I have a tredmill in my room but its really loud and i wake up before everyone in my house so it would wake them up. Im not over weight but im not Thin. I hate looking tired (I always do) i normally go to bed around 11:30/12 because i dont get to sleep because of worrying (Im depressed).
I want to look awake in the morning and not have to worry about my eyes being red, dark circles or bags. Also somedays i look really tired and my skin is dry and my makeup looks a mess i hate those days how can i dodge them? My eyes get bits of red in the and it makes them look awful is there anything i can do to get them to go back to a normal white bright colour in the morning?
Can you help me by telling me a schedule of things to do in a day so i look awake in the morning??

]]> Hi, I have a problem that just isn’t as simple as telling me to stop! I can’t live within my income. I am 40 years old and only have 200.00 in the bank. I have bad self control when it comes to NOT spending my money. According to my figures I should be able to pay my bills and have money left over even after expenses. I work from home so I have almost no commuting expenses, my house is paid for, my car is paid for (but was wrecked so now needs about 2000.00 in body work) and basic living expenses. It’s not as if I am living high on the hog! My grocery bill has been slimmed and cut. I use coupons, shop sales, etc. My washer and dryer are 15 years old all my household furnishings are 10 years old from major home remodeling 10 years ago. I don’t care for clothes or shoes shopping. I have very basic stuff. I don’t even own any makeup. I get my hair done 2x year at the beauty school, do my own manicures.
And I can almost justify everything I spend. Examples just this week: Such as today one store had a sell on name brand (our favorite) 20pk of toilet paper for 10.99, if you buy 2 you get a 5.00 gift card and I already had a 10.00 gift card from a prescription promotional several months ago. So I bought two packs for 22.00-10.00 gift card-4.00 coupons (2.00 of each multipack) and only paid 8.00 THEN I bought two more using the other 5.00 gift card I got for the first two and coupons. SO I got 80 rolls of toilet paper for 21.00. Really a good deal, right BUT I already have 150 rolls in storage bought on previous sales.

Another store had Dawn on sale for .99 and I had coupons for 1.00/2 so each one was .49. I this week added 20 bottles to the other 62 in the cabinet.

And another any Suave product on sale .89 using coupons buy 1 get 1 free had a total of 48 bottles of bodywash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.

I do the same with grocery purchases also. And I do donate quite a bit. I have been very blessed in my life even though things get really tight and pinch hard I have never had to go without. I just want to be able to make and KEEP a cushion.

So any ideas what I can do to hold my money for short term but accessible for an emergency and long term? And just live off an allowance?

]]> I mean… I like to stay slim but the figures of some other teenage girls isn’t healthy at all. They have bony arms, lanky legs and practically none existent hips. They’ve been brought up with that image projected on them; on tv and in magazines.
These girls are really proud of their skeletal frames and I don’t understand it. When people say that they look anorexic, they smile as if that’s a compliment. Anorexia is a SERIOUS mental disorder that can result in heart failure, infertility and a strange relationship with food.

I know that every single journalist and magazine writer are publishing articles of this kind in a sad attempt to win the public’s hearts but I went to topshop the other day, saw a girl shopping and thought "Wow shes really skinny." then as I walked around the store I realised that most of the teen girls were unusually thin and underweight, which takes a toll on their skin and hair, which they then cover with products and makeup.

I practically writhed with shock when a young shop assistant said to my mother "I wish I was that skinny." That says it all. I don’t like this new waif look, don’t think that’s a body to be proud of at all.
-So sorry for ranting but please actually give me an answer to the question; why is our society obsessed with skinny?
