When you insert a tampon how long should the string be hanging out?

I stopped right when the applicator touched my body but i was holding it at the finger grip and when my fingers touched my body i stopped and pushed the plunger thing, or are you supposed to keep inserting it until the actual finger grip touches your body? /: i dont know if i put it in far enough lol but it doesnt hurt or anything and i cant see the actual tampon part only the string, like is some of the string supposed to go in a little?

To girls who want to swim but can't use tampons.?

I’m really sorry. There is no other alternative to a tampon. You can wear a pad with shorts over it and sit out of the water or not go. You cannot wear a pad in the pool. Tampons are not that scary. If you want to try tampons, I’ll post instructions below. If you refuse to even try, your options are no swimming or just not going. I’m sorry. But, really, tampons aren’t bad at all.

How to put in a tampon:

First off. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
What tampons are you using?
Playtex Sport/Playtex Gentle Glide are the best for beginners.
If you don’t have those/can’t get them- anything with a plastic applicator is good too.
If you have cardboard applicator tampons- Those are trickier, but you can still do it!

1. Wash your hands.
2. Sit in front of a mirror with your legs spread wide apart.
3. Look at your vagina. Do you see the "lips"? They hang down and should be easily separated.
4. Separate the lips.
5. Now you should see your vaginal opening. Try to insert your finger. This is where the tampon will go.
6. Look at the tampon. There is a cotton part and an applicator- cardboard or plastic
7. The cotton part is the tampon part that will go in your vagina. The applicator helps push it in.
8. The cotton part is inserted in your vagina (the hole that you put your finger in) and when your fingers touch your body, you push the applicator.
9. So to insert the tampon, hold your lips apart with one hand- sort of like a wide V shape with your fingers.
10. Use the other hand to guide the tampon in. When your hand touches your body, push the applicator.

Best of luck ladies

problems inserting tampons?

I am 14 and i am using Tampax Slender tampons. I understand how to insert them and all and i am doing it correctly and putting it in far enough… its just when i put it in and stand up it feels fine but when i sit down i can feel it and it begins to feel uncomfortable. It doesnt hurt, it just feels a little uncomfortable and i can feel it there. I want to be able to use a tampon without any problems.. are you supposed to feel it at all? Because i do and i am sure i am putting it in far enough. I am squatting when i put it in and at a 45 degree angle it just feels uncomfortable. Also i am waiting until my fingers touch my body before i push in on the applicator. Thanks for your help.

Tampon problem….help?

I just put in a Playtex Gentle Glide Regular Absorbency Tampon, and the size/flow is fine. The problem is that I can feel it like crazy! I have put tampons in millions of times before and it’s always the same problem- i can feel it. This time, i even tried pushing it up farther with the applicator AND with my finger. my finger was in almost all the way and apparently its "still not in far enough". i don’t know what else to do. it is kind of stinging and i feel awkward and i feel like it is leaking and it has only been in for 20 minutes. I tried standing up this time also instead of sitting down. when i am putting it in it kind of looks a little titled, but i think that’s because i’m using my right hand and not both hands. What should i do?! I can’t stand this anymore!!! I need to learn how to use tampons correctly! I put it in until my fingers touched my body and pused it in. when i push it in it hurts. like from the second i start pushing it. maybe i’m not pusing the tube fast enough? help me please:( this is a huge problem.

Can you push a tampon in too far?

I have had my period for a while and have been using tampons from the start. When I put the applicator in, I go until my fingers are touching my body, ya know like the directions say. Then when I push the tampon out, I push about halfway down, and it feels like it can’t go in anymore and if I push more, it hurts a bit. So I usually just continue pushing the tampon out, but at the same time taking the applicator out, so I don’t push the tampon in further.

I don’t know if that was confusing, but I just wanna know if it’s bad if I continue to push, even though it feels kinda wierd and it feels like I’m not going anywhere. What am I hitting? I just don’t know if it’s a bad thing if I kept pushing.
Do you get that?
Haha thanks.
And please only answer if you are a girl who has had experience with tampons before.

Please help with tampons!!?

Okay so every time I insert a tampon, I can feel the very end of it, not the string, but the end of it. My mom says even though i’m putting it in, It’s not at the right angle. It feels like when i’m sitting down the end is poking the inside of the wall and it’s soooooo uncomfortable it’s really hard to sleep. I’ve been using plastic applicators, the slim kind, and when I go to put it in I hold the grip part with my thumb and middle finger and push until my fingers are outside my body, and since it’s not been feeling right, i’ve been putting my fingers inside just a little bit and then using my fore finger to push it in. Is there anything I can do? Please help, even my mom has tried inserting it. The first time I couldn’t feel anything, but now every time I put it in I can. Please, any advice is welcome, this is really tearing me apart and i’ve had so many melt downs and sobbings over this, and kind comments only please.

Tampons weird me out… help please!?

I’m scared of tampons, but I am able to use them…..
I really WANT to like tampons, cause of my heavy flow.
But here’s the scoop. The tampon going in is painless, like it slides right in, that’s not the problem.
The thing is everytime I insert a tampon, it’s NEVER high enough no matter what I do, so it killlls when it’s inside me when I walk or sit down! Like actually, wtf, I’ve used them 6 times and everytime I can feel them inside.

So the last 2 periods I chickend out to use them cause I was scared I wouldn’t put them in high enough and they would hurt and be uncomfy.

So, how can I reassure myself that I will be able to get it in right next time? And also, how can I be able to know I will actually get it in high enough, I insert with one leg on the toilet seat until my fingers are touching my body, so what’s the problem?

Has anybody else ever felt this way, I feel like I’m the only person who can use tampons but am scared of them but want to use them still. :(

*i’ve used tampax compak and playtex gentle glide in light and regular abosrbencies, so that’s not the problem.
would playtex sport be better? I only want to use applicators and im not interested in diva cup*

TAMPON stuck inside me!!!?

im TERRIFIED im 85% sure that i put in a tampon yesterday morning. then yesterday a few hours after that i went to take it out and there was NOTHING THERE. and i remember when i put it in, i gave it an extra shove after it came out of the applicator cuz it didnt seem far up enough. and im sooo scared because i cant get it out and yesterday and today ive been in every single squatting/layingdown/standing up position with my fingers shoved up myself trying to get it out. if there is even one in there… and i feel SOMETHING at the top of my vagina but i dont know if its just part of my body. its kind of roundish but its too hard to feel whether its a tampon texture or a … vagina texture. i cant grab it though. and if there really isnt anything in there, i must be scraping up my vagina pretty bad. im sooo scared. and i dont have time to go to the doctors until saturday because im going on a family trip.

PLEASE HELP only if you actually know something. i dont want TSS im so scared im like crying
P.S. I don’t have a bf that can take it out for me

I don’t have time to go to the doctors til 2 more days

its realllllly far up there =[
