Serious tampon trouble? WOMEN ONLY?
Ok, so I was a pad user for a long time, and tried very often to use tampons. I just couldnt get it in; i couldn’t insert AT ALL. Finally, after much lubricant, it slid in easy peasy. Now, I am practically a sliding pro. Ok, not really, i cant tell if its cold or painful. Anyway, I read that you are supposed to aim for your low back, so I did. Thinking I was successful, I stood up, only to find it uncomfortable. I had also read this means that it was not inserted far enough. So, I pulled it out, which proved to be a somewhat painful experience because the thing was still dry (i am using Playtex gentle glide with plastic applicator, smallest size possible). Ok, so i used another, and made sure to push this one further, but still no success, and frank discomfort. I once again pulled it out. Throughout today, I have tried about a million times! I have tried again and again not only because I am persistant, but also my flow was so heavy, i couldnt stand using pads. Its the end of the day now, and I yet to have inserted a tampon that i could wear for more than a minute. Is it the angle? I have pointed toward my low back, and it doesnt work. Is it the depth? I have inserted until my fingers touched my body, and further, as instructed. Any tips as to how to tell when it is far enough? And lastly, throuhgout the day, removal has become more and more painful. At first, not so bad, but it has gotten worse and worse. This last tampon, no matter how hard i pulled, it did not come out, and i was yelping in pain. I had to jump in the shower and get water all over to finally pull it out. Now, i am left discouraged with a sore vagina. How can i insert it so it is comfortable? Any tips besides the finger to body to tell how far to go? And what is the right angle? I am really depressed and in pain. It is a vicious cycle; heavy flow, insert, discomfort, try to pull out only to find more pain, and put right back to using pads again.

The angle you insert it depends on the person. Some people find different angles more comfortable than others. Try making the angle farther up.

oh I’m sorry you are having so much trouble. I must be weak because I was also a pad wearer for the longest time and then one day I finally made up my mind to try a tampon. Bad idea.. Very painful and I don’t know how they do it, It was because I didn%

seriously, this is a woman talking, but i think you are just very tense and scared of hurting yourself or it getting stuck so your vaginal muscles tense up and makes it very uncomfortable. think of it this way , put you legs shoulder width apart squat, and put it in half way. keep your fingers at the base of the aplicator. once half way , push pull a few times to get the lubrication to push it the rest of the way. keep squatting and take a breath relax and push it the rest of the way until the fingers at the base of the applicator are in the vagina at the base of the pubic bone. to take it out, squat relax and do the same thing. it’s mind over matter, your vagina was made to pass a baby it can surely accomodate one small tampon.
